IceAge - New Brigade (2010)

Band: IceAge
Album: New Brigade
Year: 2010
Country: Denmark
Denmark has seen the light of many great band lately and according to me this is definitely one of the most interesting. First of all it's very difficult to put your finger on exactly what kind of music these guys are playing, I guess the main genre would be punk but there's definitely some pop-elements. In the song White Rune they even throw in a riff that would suit bands like Sexdrome and Raspberry Bulbs like a glove. If it's not all too inappropriate I would say that if you took the catchy riffs of Joy Division, combined it with the deranged feeling of Brainbombs and the speed of punk you would get something similar to what Iceage are playing. Sounds crazy? Yeah I know, you surely wonder what the hell I am talking about. Let's just say that they play great music that makes you want to both punch people and prance around singing catchy pop-songs at the same time.

Song(s) you should listen to: Depending on what mood your in I would say that the songs White Rune, New Brigade and You're Blessed are songs worth noticing. White Rune is one of the more harsh songs on the album with it's powerful chorus and the "black metal-part" which I spoke of earlier. New Brigade and You're Blessed are both really catchy and up-beat songs that really sticks in your head. Broken Bone is also a really good song that combine the best of both worlds and also Collapse is really great and... ah just listen to the whole album. It really is that good.
